TC International Chamber Music Series — Schubertiade
In the intimate setting of a salon gathering among friends, voices and instruments intertwine as Schubert’s melodies unfold gently in the air. Some listen in rapt attention, while others exchange quiet conversation. Such was the spirit of the 19th-century Viennese Schubertiade—an intimate world of music-making, where performers and listeners shared both proximity and connection.
Schubert’s art songs are miniature dramas of the soul. From exuberance to anguish, from lightness to stillness, their melodies give voice to emotions both subtle and profound. These exquisite works are brought to life by mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, celebrated for her exceptional sensitivity to text, in collaboration with Taiwanese pianist Pei-Yao Wang. The Octet in F major, with its rich interplay of strings and winds, seems to further extend and illuminate the expressive world of the songs.
Music Director and violinist Nai-Yuan Hu joins principal players from leading orchestras in New York, Berlin, and Los Angeles, together with a new generation of outstanding Taiwanese musicians, for a vibrant performance that celebrates the spirit of chamber music. We warmly invite you to share in every moment of this musical journey in its flowing transformations.
